August Favorites

Hello my lovely readers! We've reached that time once again.

Its time for monthly favorites!

August Favorites by imkynn

Firstly we have a beauty favorite and I think this is the first beauty favorite I've ever done because I don't wear makeup or anything like that. This though is amazing, its Mary Kay's Lash and Brow Building Serum  that I've been using for the past few weeks and I've seen a difference! Its actually been in my house for a while because one of my family members sold Mary Kay a few years ago, and I decided to try it. There hasn't been anything dramatic I don't look like I have on falsies at all times but I have seen a increase in the volume and length of my eyelashes. I would highly recommend trying this product although it is a little pricey, its worth it.


Alright next we have Into the Storm. This was such a good movie. I wish I was lying when I tell this: when I walked out of the theater I was shaking like a leaf. It was probably the most intense movie I've ever seen in my life. The plot is the small town of Silverton, Oklahoma where the lives of of its residents are threatened by erratic, rapid, unprecedented tornadoes tearing through the town and surrounding areas. I definitely suggest checking this movie out.

Number three is All About that Bass by Meghan Trainor and let me tell you I'm obsessed with this tune. Its one of those really uplifting songs that talks about the fact that although your body may not be like what society expects it to be you just need to have confidence in yourself and thats all that matters. No one else's opinion should be taken into consideration if they're picking on you for something that doesn't 'fit' the role of what they want.  Empowerment movement ya feel?

Alrighty here was have the Retro Oreo 5 Jordans that I have been running behind these since their release and... my cousin is a major sneaker head and has copped them. Making me very jealous. I love these like they would be my go-to shoes because their black and white and as we discussed before most of my wardrobe is monochrome so those would be a wonderful addition to my shoe collection.


Lastly we have got a black floppy hat. Now this is not a fedora. I know most of you are thinking, "Duh of course not you just said it was floppy hat." but I say that because I know they are both really in style right now and are commonly confused. No but these are really in  right now and they are absolutely adorable to wear with just a simple romper or even a little sundress on the nice afternoon. That sounded like serious writing right there, I loved it. Anyways yes in love and need one in my life.

First Day of School 2014

BTS.

Back to School.

Many people dread this fact -like myself for that matter- or some people are actually quite excited about no longer having to be sitting around in the boredom that summer can cause.

So I actually started my first semester at university on the 20th. Yes, starting university at 15 ridiculous I know.


But I know at the university I attend because we live in a beach town all girls at the school wear primarily are running shorts, Lily Pulitzer, t-shirts, and Jack Rogers sandals. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that for them though! That is just what they personally want to wear, but I'm not that kind of girl. 

Here's what I wore on my first day:

Shirt: Aeropostale
Shorts: Forever 21
Cardigan: Thrifted
Shoes: Vans
Bookbag: Target

I mean I thought my outfit was cute.

I was drawn to the daisy crop top immediately so I knew I was going to end up wearing it. The shorts that I wore, you guys know I'm obsessed with them. I wear them all the time and they're black, they go with everything. My cardigan my mom actually picked up one day for me after I saw a similar one in some store that was way over priced so she went to our local Goodwill and picked this up for $7. I was proud. My shoes are my trusty, dusty red vans that I wear all the time, they always add a pop of color to an outfit that would  probably end up being black and white.

VMAs 2014

MTV's Video Music Awards.

The preformances were phenomenal (my boys 5 Seconds of Summer did it again and got an award. I felt like a proud mom) and the Moonmen of course throughout the night we're given to their new rightful owners.

Now the lead in the new Aaliyah biopic stunned in this dress. I loved the sheer high neck but the lace overlay everywhere else! The way it cascades to the ground... I just. I adored this ensemble and hope to see a lot more from Alexandra.

Everyone Loves a Good Party, Right?

Hey guys!

I'll start off by saying everyone loves a good party.
Well I mean I do.

Yet, I've seen through my own experience that when I know a party is coming up, one of the first things I think about is what I'm going to wear.

Everyone wants to look good for a party am I right?

All the pictures that end up on Instagram and Facebook and you want to look your best.

So I decided to do a little set with some looks that I would personally wear to a more 'dressy-casual' party!





This first look is probably my favorite and what I would be more likely to wear of the four outfits. I really like the blouse with the shorts look; I think the wedge and the blouse lend to the 'dressy-ness' but the fact that shorts are paired with it adds to the 'casual-ness'. The wedge -although dressy- is really whimsical in my opinion because of the polka-dots!

Secondly, I really like the little bit of edge added by the bright red vest top and the leather jacket. Then the heel I feel is really classy and demure so its a stark contrast but I love it! If you ditched the heels you could wear a black ankle bootie or a sandal.

Alright you all know I'm obsessed with asymmetric skorts from my June Favorites post so I really adore this one. All it is a classic grey t-shirt but nothing else is need with such a loud skirt. This and the next two outfits is for someone who wasn't all for wearing heels so the silver sandal I think complements the other main pieces of the outfit, aka the skort and the shirt. The accessories I think really add to it, the turquoise statement necklace is far away enough from the skort so that it doesn't seem to busy.

Okay and lastly, we have a simple black maxi skirt and a ruffled crop top. I think this a really simple outfit that anyone could convert to something to wear to a party. If the accessories were different this could be a really casual outfit for running errands. But with the more flashy bag and bracelet that dresses the ensemble up a ton. Accessories can really make an outfit.

Guys, the inspiration didn't just come out of thin air for this post so I actually had a party on the 9th of this month and I wanted to show you my outfit as well as some pictures from my night!

Teen Choice Awards.

The first award show for teens ever. 

That sounds extremely dramatic I know but it's true. It started back in 1999 so this was the 15th year of the Teen Choice Awards. 

That's almost as long as I've been alive which is quite scary. 

Although many people we're awarded surfboards this past weekend (including my boys 5 Seconds of Summer and One Direction who got everything they were nominated for, whoop whoop.) I wanted to show you all my top 10 looks from celebrities.

Now Miss Shay Mitchell killed the red carpet in this white, lace, two-piece. I was in love as soon as I saw it two-pieces I have been adoring lately and the white lace was very pretty and girly which I loved on her.Then the dark lip and a simple over-the-shoulder messy braid looked perfect with this look.
